SUMMARY:Trust Issues: Evaluating Sources of Information (Library Essentials Series)
DESCRIPTION:So you've found some useful information\, but how do you know 
 if it's credible? And can you use it for your assignments? This workshop 
 will cover 3 different ways to think about evaluating sources of 
 information. Then\, we'll look at how these strategies can be combined to 
 address issues which commonly arise in the types of sources students 
 regularly encounter\, especially academic sources and generative 
 AI.\n\nLearning objectives: In this workshop participants 
 will:\n\n\n	Evaluate a source of information to determine whether it is 
 valid and credible\n	Recognize the characteristics that give writers and 
 information authority\n	Recognize different way values and ideologies are 
 embedded in information sources\n	Understand the research and writing 
 expectations and practices in your subject area\n	Recognize how culture and 
 ideology affect the production of scholarship and privilege some voices 
 over others\n	Recognize how research\, writing\, and publishing practices 
 have the potential to enrich or limit information contained in a
