This is a great session for new faculty and instructors to confirm UM's copyright policies (including the updated UM Copyright Guidelines), and a good refresher for current faculty and instructors with information about additional services to help you with copyright management. The session will have a special focus on copyright friendly open resources using Creative Commons licenses and thinking about copyright when using images.

Learning Objectives: In this workshop participants will:

  • review UM copyright policies and revised UM Copyright Guidelines
  • learn about copyright law and common educational use exemptions
  • review copyright friendly resources (Creative Commons, Public Domain, etc.)

  • learn how to protect their copyright
