Description:

This introductory workshop introduces attendees to the responsible use of generative AI (genAI) use in an academic research and learning environment. While we will discuss various AI tools, we will also focus on how to criticically engage with them. Attendees will leave to evaluate AI outputs, use traditional library resources to contexualize information, and determine when genAI is - and isn't! - appropriate to use in an academic setting.

Learning objectives: In this workshop participants will:

  • Explain how genAI tools work and how using them differs from traditional database searching
  • Critically explore genAI tools and their outputs
  • Construct effective prompts that prioritize transparency and minimize bias
