Description: This session will explore the interactions between Generative AI and copyright law. How does Generative AI use copyright protected works to train? Why are creators taking Generative AI companies to court? We will answer these and other questions about how copyright law impacts Generative AI technology, and the copyright issues you need to think about when using Generative AI tools.

Learning Objectives: In this workshop participants will:

  • how Generative AI uses copyright protected works
  • potential copyright issues with Gen AI training and output
  • copyright considerations when using Gen AI
  • Gen AI interaction with licensing (Creative Commons licenses, e-resource licensing, open source licensing, etc.)
