Description: How do you know if something is appropriate for use in your assignments? In this workshop you will deepen your understanding of peer reviewed sources, think about the different ways to evaluate the credibility of academic and non-academic sources, and learn about additional considerations for evaluating information on Indigenous topics. This workshop is designed for 1st- and 2nd-year students, anyone new to choosing academic sources for their assignments, and more experienced students looking for a refresher!

Learning objectives: In this workshop participants will:

  • 'Determine if a source is appropriate for their assignments

  • Consider how to assess the validity of academic sources in your discipline

  • Evaluate the credibility of popular information sources such as news and social media
