This session will explore the interactions between Generative AI and copyright law. How does Generative AI use copyright protected works to train? Why are creators taking Generative AI companies to court? We will answer these and other questions about how copyright law impacts Generative AI technology, and the copyright issues you need to think about when using Generative AI tools.

This session will take place online via Zoom.

In this workshop participants will:

  • Understand how Generative AI uses copyright protected works
  • Recognize potential copyright issues with Gen AI training and output
  • Become familiar with copyright considerations when using Gen AI
  • Learn about Gen AI interaction with licensing (Creative Commons licenses, e-resource licensing, open source licensing, etc.)
