Citation justice is the practice of recognizing and addressing biases in academic citation patterns. It aims to ensure that diverse voices and perspectives, particularly those from marginalized communities, are fairly represented and acknowledged in scholarly work. This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of citation justice, highlighting its significance in promoting equity and diversity in academia, and offers students the opportunity to reflect on how to incorporate more diverse voices in their own work.

In this workshop participants will:

  • Learn about the emergence of citation justice and its impact on scholarly research.

  • Identify tools, databases and websites to find citations from under-represented groups.

  • Be encouraged to reflect on more inclusive citation practices.
