This session will explore the basics of archives for new or first time archival researchers. Learn about what you can expect to find in archives, which archives can help your research, and unpack some archival jargon. Attend this session to learn some general tips and tricks for visiting and searching an archive!

In this workshop participants will:

  • Understand the basic differences of libraries and archives.

  • Explore what types of records are held in archives.

  • Discuss archival terminology that can assist with future searching.

  • Learn about local, national, and international archives that can benefit their research.
