This session will provide students with a starting point for research in Indigenous studies, from finding a topic and sources to citing Indigenous sources of knowledge. The workshop will look at search and research strategies in general, but will highlight the importance of Indigenous knowledge and research methodologies.

This session will provide students with: 

  • Introduction to Indigenous knowledge and research methods 
  • Some basic search strategies for Indigenous Studies topics
  • Overview of the most relevant databases and how to find Indigenous primary and secondary sources
  • How to cite elders and Indigenous knowledge keepers
