  • Open Educational Resources (OER) are any teaching and learning resources that are available free to use, reuse, and adapt. They hold the opportunity to reduce costs for students and improve flexibility for instructors. Often we find ourselves too busy to have in-depth discussion, problem solve, share experiences, and ask questions. These monthly sessions were developed in response to demand for more opportunities to have these discussions. Unlike our usual workshop format, these sessions will begin with a short 10 minute presentation and then move into a discussion where participants will be able to ask questions or share their experiences. Each session will cover a different topic, but discussion is meant to evolve organically and will not need to stay with the original topic. Because the sessions do not build on each other, so participants are welcome to attend any session(s) that fit their schedule. Participants are not expected to do any preparation.

Who should attend? Professors, instructors, and TAs who are:
    • interested in reducing costs for assigned resources for their students
    • interested in experimenting with novel pedagogical methods (eg “open pedagogy”)
    • have questions about OER and would like to know how they can be addressed
    • have experience with OER they are interested in sharing or receiving feedback on

In this session, participants will:

  • Compare major options for OER adaptation, informed by copyright/licensing

  • Identify 1 tool that can be used for OER adaptation

  • Address questions or concerns about OER (if applicable)

  • Discuss experience with OER (if applicable)
