This panel discussion will be of particular interest to faculty and teaching staff at the University of Manitoba, and will focus on panelists' experience with using and supporting OER at the University of Manitoba and beyond. At the end of the discussion, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of panelists.

Panelists

Nicholas Harland has been an instructor in the department of Mathematics since 2012, where he has worked with a number of OER texts.

Mark Meagher is an Educational Developer at The Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning and sessional instructor in the Faculty of Architecture. He contributes to projects at University of Manitoba related to classroom technology, educational software, digital game-based learning, and inclusive technology for teaching and learning.

Brianne Collins Brianne M. Collins is an educational developer at the University of Manitoba’s Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning. Before starting at The Centre in 2020, Brianne served as an assistant professor of psychology at Providence University College and in various other instructional roles at post-secondary institutions in Alberta prior to 2017. Brianne has been using OER in her courses for more than five years.

Carley McDougall has led the Manitoba Open Education Initiative for the past 4 years, advocating for the use of OER within Manitoba’s post-secondary system. Through many collaborative grassroots efforts, the initiative has grown from promoting the use of open educational resources to establishing a PressbooksEDU Pilot Network and supporting the adaption of a variety of learning materials.
