This session provides an overview of open data and how it can be used. Focus will be on Winnipeg and Manitoba geospatial data sets. Attendees will gain insight into tips and strategies for use in working with this data in various platforms. Discussion will be centered on integrating researcher data with this secondary data source.
By the end of this workshop we will:
• Gain an overview of open data vs proprietary data
• List and access points through UML website
• Explore Winnipeg Open data portal and MLI
• Discuss workflows for submitting data requests through University Contracts/Legal Counsel.
